SAINT ALBANS - Larry Wintle, 79, passed away May 7, 2022 at an Augusta hospital. He was born September 19, 1942, the eldest of 5 sons of Kenneth and Doris (Randall) Wintle. Born and raised in St. Albans Larry worked on his grandmother's farm on the Square Road, attended Hartland Academy and graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1961. In addition to farming, he worked at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna, worked nights at Irving Tannery in Hartland and began a long career driving bus in 1969. He was a St. Albans Fire Department volunteer and served as town selectman. He lived to work rather than working to live, especially enjoying bus driving cherishing the students greatly and would still be driving today had his health permitted it. He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Barbara of St. Albans; and their children, Donna Murray of Shapleigh, Cathleen Martin and husband Perley of St. Albans, and Larry, Jr. of Bangor; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Peter, Paul and Dennis "Gus". He was predeceased by a brother Ronald. Larry's wishes were for no public celebration. Memorial donations may be made to the Waterville Area Humane Society, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901.
