NEWPORT - Louise Anne Bresnahan, 91, passed from this earthly life into eternal peace on March 25, 2023, on the Feast of the Annunciation. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Leonard Bresnahan of Worcester, MA, and Plymouth, ME. She leaves behind her oldest daughter Susan Collard and husband Ed of Palmyra, ME; son David Banks and wife Judith of Lake Placid FL; daughter Nancy White and husband Don of Atkinson, ME; daughter Lisa Spraggins and husband Jimmy of Newport, ME; grandchildren, Benjamin Hawthorne of Saint Mary's, KS, Jaime York and husband Ken of Newport, ME, Nathan Spraggins, Newport, ME; great grandchildren, Logan (Aaliyah) Bubar, St. Albans, ME, Austen York, Clayton York, Parker York, Blaire York, Jaci York of Newport, ME; step daughter Sandra Renaud and husband Ronnie, Brookfield, MA, stepson Daniel Bresnahan and wife Carolyn, Fort Lauderdale FL; granddaughter, Kelly Bresnahan; grandson Christopher Bresnahan; great grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas, Logan and Blake of Fort Lauderdale, FL; adopted daughter Nancy McKenney of Northboro, MA; and grandchildren Chad Bourque, Braintree, MA and Lauren McKenney, Westbrook, ME; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Louise was also predeceased by her beloved grandson CPT Jay Brainard, Apache Pilot, KIA, Afghanistan 2012, and loving granddaughter Kristine Renaud; Louise's siblings, Eleanor Fritz, Alice Dulmaine, William Caron, Eugene Caron, Alma Scully, and Wilfred Caron.
Louise was raised in Millbury, MA where she made many lifelong friendships and memories. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes, Catholic Church and graduated from Millbury High School in 1949. Louise was an LPN and nursing home administrator in Northboro, MA. She cared for and nurtured many elderly men and women, providing them with a loving home in which to live out their lives in dignity with exemplary physical and emotional care.
After moving to Maine, Louise worked as a CMA at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, and Dexter Nursing Home as well as working as a cook at MCI school in Pittsfield. She loved to cook and will be remembered by all who knew her for her signature homemade spaghetti sauce, chicken pot pies, French meat stuffing (toutiere), a myriad of desserts including pies and her famous "Killer Brownies".
Louise loved people of all ages, especially the elderly and children. She never turned away anyone in need and opened her own home to those needing shelter and food. She sponsored many children through the Christian Children's Fund for over 50 years, and was a staunch advocate and supporter of the "Right to Life" movement. She was affectionately known as "Ma" by many who knew and loved her.
Louise treasured her many lifelong friendships and never ceased to reach out to those both far and near. Louise overcame many health challenges in her life with her can-do attitude, faith in God, and strong will to live another day to be there for those she loved. She loved her family beyond measure, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored until her dying day.
Louise passed from this world holding fast to her beloved rosary and her love for the Blessed Mother of Christ, who was her constant companion and confidant. Louise had a strong unwavering Catholic faith to which she was devoted her entire life.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield, ME. Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon reception immediately following the mass, at The Broken Putter Grille room, 382 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield, ME.
