Carmel – Marc Arthur Willey Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 25, 2026. Born on April 24, 1956, he was the beloved son of John and Laura (Derosier) Willey. He graduated from Nokomis Regional High School in 1974, received his Associate Degree in Gerontology in 1987, and later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health and Human Services in 2000. He spent 13 years working at a local nursing home, including as a CNA and Activity Director, where his ability to make people laugh and feel good about themselves was never far away.
For many years, Marc embraced some rather unique roles. He was a community Santa Claus for 25 years, bringing Christmas magic to countless children and families. He also brought joy to Easter celebrations as the Easter Bunny. For 10 years, he was a self-proclaimed clown, better known as Marco the Clown.
Marc was an altar boy at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield and later became a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He also spent time as a substitute teacher at Levant Elementary School.
Marc was a storyteller, a writer, a musician, and a lifelong entertainer. He published a book, Upon the Willow Branch the Robin Danced, a project made possible through countless hours of help and effort from his sister-in-law Lori-Ann. He studied law for a year, joking that he learned just enough to keep himself out of trouble.
He was a huge New England sports fan, proudly cheering for the Celtics, Red Sox, and Patriots.
And Marc loved to dress up. He could turn almost any occasion into an opportunity to become another character, dressing as everything from 101 Dalmatians character and a leprechaun, to the Grinch. Marc had a gift for bringing fun wherever he went. Halloween was something he always looked forward to.
Marc lived by the philosophy that life was a gift, not something to be taken for granted. He wrote, "Spent my life as a giver, not a taker." He wore his heart on his sleeve and dedicated his life to making other people feel better about themselves through his wonderfully warped sense of humor.
Marc dedicated much of his life to making other people feel better about themselves – often through his warped, unforgettable sense of humor. He had a unique way of bringing laughter into a room, making people smile, and reminding those around him not to take life too seriously. His humor, personality, and memories he created with his family and friends will be remembered for years to come.
Marc will be deeply missed by his partner, Sandra Stormann; his children Jonathan Willey and his spouse Jamie, Jessica Pacheco and her husband Jason, MJ, and Melinda and her partner Richard. He was a proud grandfather to Kendrah, Henry, Baylor, Makayla, Kobe, Justin, Jayce, Joseph, Blake, Craig, Kayden, Brooklyn, and Richie; a cherished great-grandfather to his great-granddaughter, Kennedy; his sisters, Susan and husband Allen, Angela and husband Kerry, Thea and husband Mickey; his brother Paul and wife Lori-Ann, and several nieces and nephews.
Marc’s greatest legacy is the love he leaves behind in his family. Though he is no longer with us, he will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, family, and friends.
A private burial will take place with immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 24, 2026 at 1:00PM at the Grange Hall; 928 Main Rd, Carmel, ME 04419
Marc never liked the word "goodbye", it felt too permanent, he was more of the "see you later" kind of person. So, this isn't goodbye, it's see you later.
