DEXTER,
Marie L. Crowell, 88, of Dexter, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at Dexter Healthcare. She was born May 17, 1937, in Garland, Maine, the daughter of Charles and Doris (Gray) Batchelder.
Marie was a graduate of Dexter High School. Over the years she worked in the kitchen at the former Eastland School and later in the deli at Bud's Shop 'N Save, but her greatest and proudest role was that of a devoted homemaker. She poured her heart into creating a warm, welcoming home for her family and took immense joy in caring for those she loved.
On November 12, 1955, she married the love of her life, Clyde Crowell, in Brewer, and together they shared a beautiful life centered around family, tradition, and community. Marie was a longtime member of the Sunshine Club and cherished the friendships she formed there.
She especially loved camping at the Happy Horseshoe Campground in Lexington, Maine. Riding in the Jeep with Clyde, exploring back roads, and tending her flower gardens were some of her greatest pleasures.
Marie is survived by her devoted husband of 70 years, Clyde; her children, Jeff Crowell, Lynne and Leslie Fillmore, Kent and Nancy Crowell, and Kathy and Jay Bearce; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Mabel Olson, Harold and Sue Batchelder, and Linda Batchelder. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Earlene Black; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Jeanne Sawtelle and Cindy Robinson.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Raymond Batchelder; and sisters-in-law Helen Black and Evelyn Golden.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Garland, with the date and time to be announced.
