NEWPORT - Marie Ann (Matijczyk) Hartsgrove, 72, died May 30, 2020 at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 3, 1948 in Hartland, a daughter of Max and Evangeline (Gray) Matijczyk. Marie graduated from Hartland Academy in 1966 and from Boston University Dental Assistant School in 1967. She graduated from Westbrook College School of Nursing with an Associates Degree in 1972. Marie worked as a Registered Nurse in home health and nursing homes for over 40 years. She came full circle and retired from Sanfield Rehab and Living Center, which was the former Scott Webb Memorial Hospital where Marie was born.
Marie met Mickey (the love of her life) in 1986. They were married in June 1988 and continued to hold hands while walking together. They enjoyed all activities together. She loved to golf, fish, bow hunt, and be a part of her grandchildren's lives - especially sports.
She is survived by her husband Mickey of 32 years; a brother Max A. and wife Yvonne of Reed City, Michigan; a beautiful daughter Katrina Matijczyk and companion Ian Catalano of Kirkville, New York; a step son Craig and wife Jennifer, grandchildren Makayla, Hunter and Bryten of Patten; step son Scott and wife Kendra, grandsons Spencer, Zachary and Grady of Newport. She is also survived by 2 nephews, Matthew of California and Jason of Wyoming, and their families.
She was predeceased by her father Max on December 25, 2007, her mother Evangeline on May 1, 2020, father in law, Robert Hartsgrove on January 4, 2017, and her mother in law Ina Hartsgrove on March 7, 2020.
Marie was a long time member of AA and was grateful for all those who came before her and shared their experience, strength and hope.
A celebration of Marie's life will be held with her mother at a late date. In lieu of flowers, please consider becoming an organ donor to help another human. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
