Obituary

CORINNA - Marjorie A. Hughes, 92, died November 30, 2021 at her residence. She was born October 10, 1929 in Springfield, MA, a daughter of Francis and Evelyn (Bishop) Horner. She graduated from Springfield Technical High School and married Roger Hughes on March 31, 1951. She worked as an upholstery stitcher for Hampden Upholstery and Crown Upholstery in Springfield. Marge also worked as a bookkeeper, teller and head teller at several banks in MA, CT and FL, retiring from Electric Motors in Westfield, MA. She was a member of the Square Dance Club, Bowling Team, High School Class Reunion Committee, Southwick Women's Club, a cross stitch club called Stitch n Bitch, C.B. Club, the Scrabble Club and the Central Maine Country Music Association. Marge enjoyed gardening, canned and froze food and made pickles and jams. She won several ribbons at the Blandford Fair in MA for food and cross stitching, and was a seamstress sewing for herself, daughters and grandchildren. She created many beautiful cross stitch pieces including wedding and birth announcements. Marge enjoyed bicycle and horseback riding and most recently four wheeling. She is survived by her husband Roger of Corinna; 2 daughters, Sandy Hughes of Corinna, Debra and husband Michael Petros of Oneida, NY; 5 grandchildren, Tammy and husband Christopher Creswell of St. Albans; James "Jay" Bradley, Jr. of Newport, Adam and wife Jessi Bradley of Dexter; Sarah Bradley of Waterville, and Stephanie Petros of Oneida, NY; 10 great grandchildren, Alycia, Hannah, Jackson and Jayden Bradley, Jeffrey Ludden, Jacob Bickford, Rachel and Joshua Creswell, Kaileigh Clowry, and Mason Pelletier; and 2 great great granddaughters, Oakley and Brinley Ludden. Marge was predeceased by 2 infant brothers, 2 brothers Francis and Donald Horner and a sister Dorothy Frenette. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 4th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, with the Rev. Michele St. Cyr officiating. Burial will be in the Morse's Corner Cemetery, Corinna. Friends may call from 10 A.M. Saturday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 383 U.S. Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
