MARY L. PIKE
January 6, 1929 - July 13, 2022
CARMEL - "Ma Pike" left us to make her yeast bread and rolls, chocolate chip cookies, pies and many other goodies with the angels. Mary was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, Irwin W. Pike and their son Peter. Mary was the daughter of Cecil and Estella (Graves) Love of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Canada. They as well as her brothers, Henry, Edwin, Robert, Norman and sister Florence Nelson have all passed. Mary's surviving children are Julia Pike, Mary Holt (Michael), David (Ruth) and James (Glory) Pike; seven grandchildren, Peter "Nick" and Zackary (Kate) Pike, Sarah and Ben (Carrie) Holt, Anna Wilson (Mervin), Angela (Blaine) and David (Melissa) Pike, Jessica Pike; eleven great-grandchildren; and a special "daughter" Nancy Cunningham.
Mary made many wonderful friends during her very active 72-year membership in the Order of the Eastern Star which gave her countless happy memories. If there was a public supper, breakfast or craft fair for "Star", the Church, Penobscot County Extension, or Shrine, Mary was in the kitchen. Mary was a proud board member of the Bangor Children's Dyslexia Center. Mary was a 73-year graduate of Foxcroft Academy (1948). She made sure her classmates received a card for their birthdays, holidays, and was saddened at each ones passing. She loved going out, or even better, hosting lunch with her local friends and neighbors through the Carmel Senior Citizens, the Masonic Daylight Lodge of Bangor, and the Red Hats of Carmel.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospital, especially the fifth floor for their care of Mom.
Mary's service will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, July 23rd at the Carmel Congregational Church, 37 Plymouth Road, Carmel. Donations may be made to the Children Dyslexia Center of Bangor, 294 Union St. Suite 3, Bangor 04401, Carmel Congregational Church, P.O. Box 111, Carmel, ME 04419. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
