EXETER - Merton Leon Macomber, 88, passed away on April 24, 2023, peacefully surrounded by family at the Pittsfield hospital. He was born on May 12, 1934 in Dover-Foxcroft. After Merton graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1952, he worked for the Town of Dexter and the Eastern Gazette, and later retired from his auto sales business in 1988. He married Gloria (Small) Macomber at First Free Baptist Church in Dexter in 1958. His favorite activities and hobbies included fishing with his sons, hunting, gardening, and spending time with family including grandchildren. He had a love for dogs and root beer floats. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Macomber, son Gregory and partner Debbie, son Jeffrey and wife Sandi, daughter in law Tracy Macomber and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Merton was predeceased by his father, and siblings Phillip and Phyllis. He was also predeceased by his son Timothy Macomber and grandchild Jeffrey Macomber Jr. Services will be held at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter at 10 A.M. Saturday, May 6th, with the Rev. Stan Griffin officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an organization of your choice.
