Obituary

SANGERVILLE- Michael J. Hartford, 65, died November 9, 2016, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He was born in Dexter, June 13, 1951, the son of Ronald and Doris (Edgecomb) Hartford.

He graduated from PCHS in Guilford, class of 1969. Following graduation he worked as a brakeman and later as an engineer for Springfield Terminal formerly known as Maine Central Railroad. In recent years he was actively involved in the Sangerville ATV Club, where he played a key role in establishing ATV all access routes.

Michael, a true friend to many, was always ready to lend a helping hand or tell a story. He often could be found in either his Man Cave, up in the Loft, or at his cottage in PEI, cooking up a feed for friends and family.

He is survived by his parents of Sangerville; his loving wife of 41 years, Marilyn (Burnham) Hartford of Sangerville; a daughter, Amy Williams, and her fiance, Stephen Hodgins of Eddington; and children, Kayla and Tyler Williams, and Mitchell and Joel Hodgins; a daughter, Keita and her husband, Damon Franklin of VA, and their children, Alexis and Trevor; a brother, Ronnie Hartford, and his wife, Linda of Cambridge; a brother, Steven Hartford and his wife Brenda of Parkman; a sister, Carol Goulette and her husband, David of Bath; a sister, Cheryl Ruksznis and her husband, Frank of Sangerville; and many special nieces and nephews.

Michael loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed his role as "Papa" to his grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 PM, Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street in Dexter. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM with Pastor Jay Brennan officiating.
