Obituary

Monique Elizabeth (Rivard) Braley November 4, 1962 - November 17, 2022 NEWPORT-Monique E. Braley, 60, passed away at home with her two loving sons by her side on November 17, 2022, after a courageous six-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born November 4, 1962 in Augusta, a daughter of George and Marie (Thibodeau) Rivard and was the youngest of six children. Monique was educated in the Augusta school system, graduating in 1981 from Cony High School. She went on to complete her education at the University of Maine at Orono, graduating class of 1985. Monique was an educator in the Pittsfield school system for over 20 years. She had a great love for the beach, warmth of the sun, sand between her toes, and could often be found searching for sea glass for her crafting projects. She had a passion for dancing, especially line-dancing and she loved spending time with family and friends. Monique is survived by her two sons, Patrick Braley and Christopher and wife Taylor Braley; five siblings, Leah Bowden (Bill), George Rivard (Shirley), Theresa Parquette (Bob), Peter Rivard, and Julie Hagen (Jack); her husband of more than 30 years, Scott Braley; her very special in-laws, Gary and Patty Braley, whom she loved dearly; her kitty "Tux"; several aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and so many dear friends. Monique was predeceased by her parents. For those who would like to join in honoring her life, the family will be holding a celebration of life from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M., Saturday, November 26, at the Millennium Ballroom, 416 Oxbow Road, Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (dana-farber.org).
