In Loving Memory
Nancy Diane Frautten was reunited with her daughter, Kathi, and husband, Ed, on December 9, 2025. Nancy died peacefully at Pleasant Meadows Assisted Living in Dover-Foxcroft. She was 82 years old.
Nancy was born on May 16, 1943, in Dexter, Maine, to Laurence and Yvonne Hartford. She was raised on the family farm in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School. Nancy was introduced by friends to Edward Frautten, and after attending a Chubby Checker concert on their first date, they would eventually be married on June 30, 1962. Nancy and Ed remained married for 54 years, until his passing in 2016.
Nancy began her working years in office jobs before eventually finding her calling in childcare. She provided childcare in her home for many years before going to work at Dexter Daycare. After retiring from childcare, Nancy worked at Rand Hill Farms.
Nancy enjoyed listening to country music and attending concerts, many of which she attended with her daughter, Kathi. She loved taking pictures and sharing them with family and friends—photographs were important to her, whether she took them herself or received them from others. Nancy was fortunate to have a large group of friends. Whether it was weekly breakfasts, coffee, lunch, Scrabble, or attending concerts, she was truly blessed with many loving friendships. Nancy also loved watching Hallmark movies, doing word finds, playing Words with Friends, and spending time on Facebook.
Nancy's greatest joy was becoming "Nan" to her loving grandson, Jack. Her loving, caring, and generous nature made her, as Jack would say, "The Best Nan in the World." She loved spending time with her son, Mike; daughter-in-law, Nicky; and grandson, Jack. Whether it was Christmas in Hawaii, eating pasta in Rome, or something as simple as watching a movie together, these moments were her most cherished and provided the family with countless memories that will never be forgotten.
Nancy spent the last month of her life surrounded by a large number of family members and friends. The love and care shown by everyone brought her great joy and happiness in her final days. The family wishes to thank everyone for their support.
Nancy was predeceased by her daughter, Kathi; husband, Ed; parents, Laurence and Yvonne Hartford; and sister, Diana Warren.
Nancy is survived by her son, Michael; daughter-in-law, Nicole; grandson, Jack; brother, Dana Hartford and his wife, Colleen; and uncle, Ronnie Knowles.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
