Obituary

CORINNA - Nathalie Pearl (Russell) Brooks, 90, died July 22, 2020 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born August 22, 1929 in Dexter, the only child of Guy and Martha (Foss) Russell. She graduated with honors from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1946. She went to summer school in Gorham majoring in English, and attended an academic year at the University of Maine at Farmington. She always sang in the choir at the Methodist church and was interested in music and public speaking. Nathalie married Maurice Brooks on August 30, 1947. They purchased the Fred Nutter farm in July of 1965. She was a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church, where she served as lay leader, Sunday school teacher, past president of United Methodist Women and served as secretary to the church board for many years. Nathalie was also a member of the Grange, a leader in the girl's 4-H group, and past president of the Senior Extension. She was a past president of the Literary Club, the Happy Hour Club and served as a substitute teacher in the Corinna and Newport school systems. Maurice and Nathalie wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida for many years. They lost a son Larry in October of 1993, and she lost Maurice in August 2003 after a long bout with Parkinson's disease. She is survived by 2 sons, Paul and wife Judy Brooks and Edmund Brooks, all of Corinna; 2 daughters, Maxine and husband Myles Lemieux of Sangerville and Patricia Towle of Bangor; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Due to the pandemic, services have been changed to a private graveside committal at Corinna Center Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
