Obituary

BURNHAM--Nelson H. Fanjoy, 74, died unexpectedly December 2, 2018 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born April 8, 1944 in Hartland, a son of Kenneth and Freda (Lawler) Fanjoy. He graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1964 and served in U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Nelson was a member of the American Legion. Nelson had been employed at the Agway Fertilizer Plant in Detroit, Guilford Industries in Newport and Dysart's in Pittsfield. He got a Class A operator's license and drove truck for Waldo County Oil and Thompson Oil. Throughout his life he always cut wood and raked blueberries. Bowling was his greatest passion and he made lasting memories and friendships with his bowling buddies. In the last few years of his life, Nelson's favorite past time was reading western books and he read so many! He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda (Mason) Fanjoy of Burnham; 3 sons, Michael Fanjoy of Burnham, Eric Fanjoy and Jason Fanjoy, both of Gray; 2 brothers, Lyman Fanjoy of Pittsfield and Robert Fanjoy of AZ; 1 sister, Kathy Timberlake of Newport; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; a sister in law Linda Fanjoy of Skowhegan. Nelson was predeceased by a brother Victor. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 8th, at the Winnecook Christian Church, 4 Chapel Lane, Burnham, with the Rev. Chris Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations may be made to Barrows-Skidgel American Legion Post # 105, 82 North Street, Newport, ME 04953. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
