Obituary

DEXTER & BREWER - Oleta "Lee" Jerome passed peacefully October 7, 2021 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bangor. She was born March 31, 1932 in Sebec, to Lincoln and Sadie Archer. She was a long-time resident of the Dexter area, having returned to Maine from Connecticut in 1979. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 4298 Dexter where she held the office of Secretary/Treasurer for many years. She worked diligently with the Post Chairman on the Patriot's Pen/Voice of Democracy Scholarship programs. She also held the offices for treasurer and president at the District level and was chair of several department programs. Lee was a member of the Ripley United Methodist Church serving as secretary, the Ripley Craft Club, University of Maine Extension Club, and was a volunteer at the Abbott Museum, Dexter. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Shaver and Pamela Jerome, her son Paul and his wife Marian, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her close friend Ruth Seavey. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth D. Jerome, her sister Mary Miller, brother Leslie Archer, her grandson Kenneth Jerome, her daughter Carol Plante and special friend Truman Archer. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Friday, October 15th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. A celebration will follow at VFW Post 4298, Cedar Street, Dexter.
