Paula Irene Peirce 75, of Exeter, Maine, joined her beloved husband to begin their next journey together on July 29th, 2024. Paula passed at home after a true to her nature "stubborn" battle with cancer. She fought courageously, with an inner strength that she drew on in hard times. She was born in Clarksburg, Massachusetts, on March 17, 1949, to Paul and Marion (Dunbar) Starbird, attending schools in Middlefield, Massachusetts.
Paula was very outspoken and unfiltered, and although she requested that her obituary simply say, "I died". Her children just as outspoken as she, decided that her obituary needed to say more about the woman who positively impacted so many.
Paula worked and retired from Hannaford in Bangor, taking great pride in the many roles she filled during her 30 years of employment. In that time, she received many honors, including the George Naimey award for outstanding customer service. She was the top earner for the March of Dimes walk-a-thon through Hannaford's for 20 years.
Paula was the President of the women's Auxiliary at the American Legion post #73. She took great pride in the work she did with her legion family. whether it was organizing fundraisers or calling bingo.
Paula was predeceased by her beloved husband Mike, on October 19th, 2021, who she deeply missed. The family takes comfort in knowing they have been reunited. Paula was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marion as well as her siblings, Robert, Paul, Tom, Yvonne, Barbara, and Alice.
Paula is survived by her "favorite" sister Shirley (Bruno) Bournival of CT. Children from a prior marriage; Ginny Parker and partner Mike Labombard of NH, Patrick Prince and husband Christopher Rener of NH, Peter (Karen) Prince of ME, and Joseph Prince of MA. Stepchildren; Joanne, Justine, Joyce, John Jr and their children. A special niece, Annette (Jay) Bates of CT. Grandchildren; Jackie Parker, Rebecca (Bryson) Murray, and their children Hazlynn, Adalynn, and Edward, Maize Alexandria Post Coyle (Makenna Dawn), Preston Edward Horalek. As well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thanks to all of her wonderful friends. With sincere gratitude and appreciation to those who also acted so lovingly as caregivers during her illness; Elliot and Linda Austin, Steve and Linda Colbath, Mike and Natalie Rogers, Shirley Rogers, Amy and Eric Strout and their daughters, as well as her faithful "Golden Girls", Bridge club Denise, Greta, and Nancy.
A special acknowledgement to her son Patrick for the continuous support he gave his mother, after losing her beloved husband Mike. Patrick answered any wish she had and spent many nights and weekends making sure she had company and the best care possible.
