Newport, ME – Peter P. Podziak, 77, passed away at his home on August 22, 2026. He was born in Portland on August 13, 1949, the son of Frank and Yvette Podziak.

Peter joined the United States Army shortly after graduating from high school, beginning a life of service and hard work. Following his military service, he pursued a career as a carpenter. He took great pride in his craftsmanship, specializing in building furniture, including cabinets, dressers, and other pieces that reflected his skill and attention to detail.

Peter enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors, and he was someone who was comfortable being on his own. He lived life in his own way and valued the peace and independence that came with it.

Peter was a member of the Newport Church of God and, in his later years, became a member of Gateway Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his two daughters; his sister, Josephine Podziak; brother-in-law, Gilbert Andrews; sister-in-law, Gertrude Andrews; his "grandchildren," Wyatt Weeks and Kiara Tyson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joyce; his siblings, Bonne-Jean, Bertlshofer, Frank, and Joseph; and his stepdaughter.

Peter will be remembered for his independent spirit, his craftsmanship, his love of fishing, and the quiet life he chose to live.
