Obituary

CORINNA - Phillip "Phil" C. Cossar, 83, died January 7, 2022 at his residence. He was born February 25, 1938 in Exeter, a son of P. Bernard and Ethelyn (Curtis) Cossar. He attended Corinna Union Academy and was a member of the Corinna Fire Department. Phil served many years as sexton for the Town of Corinna and was a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church. He was also a founding member of the Corundel Raiders Snowmobile Club and the All Sports Boosters Club at Nokomis Regional High. The 2021 Corinna Town Report was dedicated to him and he was active in the Town Recreation Committee where he coached baseball and basketball. He was also honored by the state for his years of volunteer work and in December received the spirit of America Award for his excellent volunteer work with the people of Penobscot County. He is survived by his wife Georgetta (Hathaway); his son Charles; 2 grandchildren Chandler and Isabella; sisters Marlene Cameron, Marjorie Garland, Louise Giles, Carol Simpson, Marilyn Cossar and Elaine Richards; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Ronnie Simpson and Steve Brown; as well as many others. Phil was predeceased by a brother Albert, sisters Estella Cossar, Lucille Frost and Mildred Cossar, and a special nephew Peter Cameron. A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at the Morse's Corner Cemetery, Corinna, followed by a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Corinna Fire Department, Town Office, 8 Levi Stewart Drive, Corinna, ME 04928. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
