DEXTER--Randall "Sonny" E. Atwater, III, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on January 5, 2022. He was born August 10, 1946 in Dexter a son of Randall E. and Irene (Nelson) Atwater Jr.

Randall worked on farms as a young man but spent most of his life in the woods, driving logging machinery and logging trucks. He loved being outdoors, fishing, riding ATVs, and sawing lumber at his sawmill he had at his house. He was a big NASCAR fan and loved watching the races with his family. He also enjoyed playing Bingo later in life.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Elva G. Atwater, and a brother Roy Nelson, Jr.

He will be sadly missed by his loving children, Debra Boyde of Pittsfield. Randall Atwater, IV and wife Stacey of Dexter, Penny Atwater of Newport. and Jamie Atwater and wife Lori of Dexter.

He is also survived by 2 sisters, Pammy Smith of Dexter, Ann Ball and 2 brothers Mark and Robert Nelson of Dexter.

A graveside service will be held in the summer for Randall and his wife Elva at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal. Dexter.
