Obituary

Richard W. Archer, Sr. CORINNA – Richard Archer, Sr., 86, died November 5, 2023 at his residence. He was born August 16, 1937 in Old Town, to Lyman and Roseman (Thurber) Archer. Richard was a devoted family man who would do anything for them no matter the effort or the cost. He enjoyed being at camp over the last few years. He has spent many days and nights sitting by the fire or the water taking in the scenery. He would always say "this is my kind of country". Richard was not a wealthy man and worked hard for everything he had. He also was not selfish and always willing to help others whenever in need. Richard, along with his wife Irene, cared for the community, especially the needy and the elderly. They played a huge part in the development and operation of the Corinna Food Cupboard for many years. Their service to the elderly ranged from giving rides to running errands, food delivery for those who were not able to get to the Cupboard or store, yard maintenance and even personal care. Richard was a servant of God and an active member of the Corinna United Methodist Church, where he served as head usher and took pride in running the sound equipment at church and taping the services for distribution to those who could not attend. He was also a past boy scout leader in Corinna. Richard worked at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna until the mill closed. He is survived by a son, Richard, Jr. and his wife April of Corinna; 2 grandsons, Tyson and Brandon, and Brandon's special girl Jenna; 4 great grandchildren, Audrey, Alayna, Rylee and Maddox; and a special nephew, Allen Sudsbury. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Irene and his sisters, Gloria Cross and Shirley Abbott. Committal services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 14th, at Corinna Center Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Corinna United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 418, Corinna, ME 04928.
