Obituary

Richard R. Clukey, 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 14, 2020. He was born on September 19, 1935 in Dexter, a son of Vernal and Priscilla (Field) Clukey. Richard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha; children Bonnie Tibbetts and Jeanette Clukey, all of Corinna; grandchildren and their significant others John Leo and Pam and Alissa Tibbetts and Derek; 3 great grandchildren, Johnson, Matthew, and Emma; sisters Janice Crane, Jackie Clukey, Viola Harp, and Linda Hughes; brothers Dwayne Randall and Victor Clukey; and many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 children, Diana Marie, Kevin Charles, and Richard Victor Clukey; brother F. Wendall Clukey; and sister Gladys Rand. Richard served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1956. He was a Korean War Veteran. As a young man he worked for Tempesta Motors, Hartley Motors, and the Chandler family. He retired from Cooper, Weymouth and Peterson in 1998. After retirement, he loved working in his garage. He was known as a local welder and always willing to lend a helping hand. Richard had a couple of special places he would like to be. The first one was in his garage, working away at welding, building trailers and fixing things that seemed impossible to fix. He also hosted Sunday coffee in his garage where many dear and close friends would gather to talk and exchange tall and enhanced stories. The other place that was near and dear to his heart was his camp in Saint Albans. He loved sitting on the deck and watching the boats go by and eating his favorite cheeseburger. Richard was rich in life by having many special friends and family, that was his priority. The family would like to thank the staff at Northern Light Sebasticook Valley hospital in Pittsfield for their compassionate care of Richard during his stay. He was also grateful for the care he received by his doctor and staff at the Bangor VA. At Richard's request there will be no services at this time. Spring graveside services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corinna Food Pantry, c/o Corinna United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 418, Corinna, ME 04928. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, Corinna.
