DETROIT- Richard Humphrey (81) passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2024. He was born January 26th, 1943. The son of the late Floyd and Phyllis (Sinclair) Humphrey, Richard graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield with the class of 1961 and served our country in the Army National Guard for 6 years and was honorably discharged February 1969. He was employed by Maine Dept of Parks and Recreation in 1972 and held the job of Ranger on Eagle Lake in The Allagash Wilderness Waterway. He worked for 25 years for Agway and retired from Feed Commodities in 2006. He married Patricia Weeks Humphrey in 1974.
Dick had always had a love of aviation and through the years owned and flew two different light sport aircraft. One a Champ 7AC and the last was a Talorcraft BC12D. He enjoyed ice and open water fishing with his wife, camping at their coastal dwelling in Gouldsboro, and loved hunting.
Richard is predeceased by his loving wife Patricia Humphrey. He is survived by his stepson Clinton Hurlburt and fiancée Sara Brooks of Burnham, and brother Floyd Humphrey of Pittsfield. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 8th at 2:00pm at Hartland First Baptist Church.
