DEXTER--Rita (Clark) Novak, 90, passed away November 8, 2018 at her daughter's home in Winthrop. She was born December 30, 1927 in Dexter, a daughter of Jack and Celeste (Mountain) Clark.
Rita grew up in Dexter and graduated from N. H. Fay High School, Class of 1946. Following graduation she moved to the Washington, DC area where she married William R. Novak, raised her family and had a successful career at the Department of Agriculture. After retiring, they returned to Dexter, enjoying time spent with family and friends on Lake Wassookeag, playing golf and wintering in the south.
Rita was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years; siblings, John Clark and Edith Clark.
She is survived by her son John A. Novak and wife Bobbi of Conway, SC; daughter Catherine Anne Spaulding of Winthrop; son William R. Novak, Jr and wife Trayee of Newport; son David Novak and wife Kathryn of Glenwood, MD; granddaughters, Leanne Novak, Valerie Novak and husband Michael Hottinger, Allison Novak, Melissa Novak, Nastassja Curtis, Brittney Novak Johnson and husband Jared; grandsons John Novak, Jr. and wife Shelley, David Spaulding and wife Mikee, Joseph Spaulding and partner Megan Ploof, Hunter Novak and Natasha Bickford, Zackary Novak and wife Katherine. Rita was also blessed with many great grandchildren.
A mass to celebrate Rita's life will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, November 16th, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Free Street, Dexter. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Hospice of Maine, 42 Cedar Street, Bangor, ME 04401.
