NEWPORT - Robert Orland Larrabee, 64, passed away peacefully July 9, 2021 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born May 8, 1957 in Groton, CT to Marilyn and Orland Larrabee. After graduating from Dexter Regional High School in 1975 he joined the Navy and remained active until 1979.
He was employed for many years at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna and Irving Tannery in Hartland until his retirement when he became ill. He was known as a diehard Earnhardt fan, reading his favorite author Stephen King, snowmobiling, four wheeling, watching westerns, and his own brand of sarcasm that made him who he was. He was also known as very stubborn to his last days.
In addition to his wife of 32 years, Pearl (Chute) Larrabee; he is survived by 2 sisters and their husbands Lori and Ron Ryder, Judy and Jason Humphrey; a daughter DeeDee Larrabee and partner J. J. Nichols and her children Kourtney, Meaghan, AJ, Aleigha, Dustin, Parker and Natalynn; his son's children Bridgette, Dillan and Dallas.; 3 very special nephews, Charlie Worcester and wife Tammy, Luke Worcester and wife Melissa, Orland Worcester and wife Twyla; 2 close cousins Jeff and Joel Getchell; and many others he graced with his presence.
He was predeceased by his parents, his aunt Bev, his son Dale Call, and a grandson Jaxsyn Larrabee.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
