NEWPORT - Rodney "Buddy" Copeland, 93, passed away peacefully at a Bangor hospital on July 16, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born in Boston, MA on July 26, 1922. He grew up on Islesboro with his younger sister Mildred Copeland, and graduated from high school there.

Buddy served in active duty during World War II from 1942 through 1946 aboard the USS Albe Marle. He married Lois Bryant in June 1948 and was married for 64 years in Newport where they resided for most of their marriage. Buddy enjoyed working for Bud's Shop and Save in Newport for many years, riding his bicycle to and from work. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Stacy Chabre and Lisa Boggs, both of Newport; and Cindy Sullivan of North Fort Myers, FL; 1 grandchild, Kurt MacKenzie of Palmyra; several nieces and nephews.

Buddy was predeceased by his wife Lois and his sister Mildred Ferris.

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M Monday, July 25th, at Pittsfield Village Cemetery, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating.
