NEWPORT – Ruth Helen Murphy 95, died on May 5, 2023, at Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital. Ruth was born in Winterport on October 29, 1927, to Cohen and Helen (Woodman) Mayhew. Ruth is survived by her daughters Sharlene Hill and husband Samuel Hill, Sr. of West Gardiner, Dr. Lauren Mayhew of Biddeford, and Darlene Chadbourne of Palmyra; her grandchildren Paula Francis Thody and husband Chris Thody, Samuel Hill, Jr., Bryan Fanjoy and partner Cheyan, Amanda Fanjoy and partner Jonathan, Eliza Hill Kelsey, Matt Kelsey, Shane Hill and partner Danielle Pierce, Laurie Foustoukos, Nate Chadbourne and fiancée Mindy; her great grandchildren Cheyenne Bereau, Jaylee Smith, Patricia Thody, Jasmine Smith, Rebekah Thody, Dreams Hill, Makayla Thody, Xavier Fanjoy, Camara Fanjoy, Kaiden Marsten, Bryce Hill, Triton Hill, Oliver Hill, Remington Fanjoy, Taylor Hill, Hendrixx Hill, and Chevelle Fanjoy. Ruth was predeceased by her husband John H. Murphy, son George Francis, Jr., son-in- law Aaron Chadbourne, and great grandson Darius Hill. Her Family would like to thank the hospital staff that cared for her at Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital. Arrangements are in the care of Crosby & Neal, Newport. A private family burial will be held later. A Celebration of life will be held on June 16.
