Obituary

BANGOR- Sandy Rock (Creighton) 79, formally of Etna, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, at Stillwater Health Care in Bangor, Maine, after battling a long-term illness. She was born to Emma and Robert Creighton on June 27, 1944, in Hartland, Maine. She was a graduate of Newport High School, and after graduating, she went on to cosmetology school to become a cosmetologist. She married and moved to California, where she resided for many years. She lived in England for two years before returning to Maine. Sandy became a bookkeeper at Forrest Yarns, owned by her brother and nephew, in East Newport where she worked for many years before becoming a bookkeeper at Irving Oil in Newport then retiring at age 70. Sandy was a hard worker and loved each job she had as well as the people she worked with and her community. She was a "jack of all trades" in that she could learn how to do most anything. She enjoyed many crafts, including woodworking, making clothes, and she was a talented cook, like her mother. She opened her home to many people and showed kindness and love without judgement to everyone she knew. Sandy was known for her smile and her laugh, which could brighten anyone's day. She had great affection for animals and her pets. She was a beautiful mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and her presence in this world will be missed greatly. Sandy was survived by her son David Rock, his wife Jessica, and their sons Michael, Devin and David and his wife Monica and their son Ezra, who is Sandy's only Great- grandchild, daughter Michelle Libby, her husband Brad and their son Forest Libby; nieces and nephews Nancy Kitchen, her husband Blaine, Jimmy Mills, Blain Creighton, his wife Jan, Tracey Evans, her husband Parker, and Troy Creighton, all loved as her own children. She was preceded in death by her sister Charlene Mills, her father Robert Creighton Sr., her mother Emma Creighton who was our family's guiding angel, her brother Robert Creighton Jr., and her nephew Allen Mills. Public funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20th at 11am-1:00pm at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home in Newport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bangor Humane Society. Special thanks to the caring nurses at Stillwater Health Care, Northern Light Hospice, Eastern Area Agency on Aging as well as her church family at First United Methodist Church of Bangor.
