NEWPORT - Sara Anne Mowbray, 89, died unexpectedly February 26, 2019 at her residence. She was born August 12, 1929 in Fall River, MA, a daughter of Elmer and Marion (Roos) Mapes. Sally earned a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater College. Sally enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was a member (past president) of the Sebasticook Valley Garden Club, the Garden Club Federation of Maine and the National Garden Club. She was a national master judge and was a Master Japanese Ikebana Floral Designer. She is survived by 2 daughters, Elizabeth and husband Jerome Howell of Auburn, and Caroline Mowbray and partner Arnold Dennison of Windham; a sister, Marta Bent of Falmouth; 2 grandchildren, Sara and Margaret. Sally was predeceased by her husband Jim. At her request there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
