Shane R. Gilbert, 52, died unexpectedly June 10, 2019 at his residence in Auburn. Shane was born April 23, 1967, in Bangor a beloved son of Richard and Carolyn (Poirier) Gilbert. He graduated from Dexter Regional High School and The Ohio State University. He achieved his Master's Degree in Education at the University of New England.

Shane taught at the Auburn Middle School for 12 years. He was a devoted teacher who loved teaching, his school and his students. Summers were spent traveling around the world. But summers at Lake Wassokeag in Dexter were his favorite, organizing the boat parade and floating on his tube!

He is survived by his parents of Dexter; a brother Chad Gilbert of Whitefield; grandfather, Armand Poirier of Bangor; nephews, Ben and Blake Gilbert of Whitefield; aunts and uncles, "Aunt Nena" and Ronald Hallee of Ohio and Norma and Steve LeClair of Gray; his cat Demitri; and many other special friends and relatives. Shane will be sadly missed.

A memorial service will be held 10 A.M. Wednesday, June 26th, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter, with the Rev. John Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Androscoggin Humane Shelter, 55 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240.
