Obituary

DEXTER - We regretfully announce the passing of Sharon (Sherry) Gray Rogers, 69, of Dexter, Maine. Sherry passed away on December 17, 2021, after a brief illness. Sherry was born to Carl E. and Opal E. Gray on March 6, 1952, in Dexter, Maine, and resided in Newport until later in life. An independent, brave and vibrant personality Sherry knew she wanted to be a teacher from age of 5. Sherry graduated from Nokomis Regional High in 1970 at the top of her class and immediately went on to study for her teaching career at the University of Maine, Farmington. After graduating from the teacher's college in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree, Sherry's first job was teaching Kindergarten in Hartland. She then taught the rest of her career in Pittsfield, Maine, Vickery, classes 3 and 4. She was forced to early retirement after a catastrophic brain aneurysm in 1996. She bravely picked up pieces of her life and was nanny and teacher to the two people she loved most, her nephew Tyler Levesque, and niece, Amber Levesque. Sherry is survived by her brother, Larry Gray of Newport; sister, Bonnie Gray-Levesque and her husband Gil Levesque, of Dexter; her nephew, Tyler Levesque, of Cleveland, Ohio, and niece, Amber Levesque of Dexter, as well as an uncle Ron Kinney of Connecticut, and many cousins of Maine and Connecticut. She was predeceased by father, Carl Gray; mother, Opal E. Greene Gray; and twin sister, Karen Ann Gray. A memorial service will be held at a later date, which will be announced. If you would like to honor her legacy, please make a donation to Peoples United Methodist Church, 131 Main Street, Newport, ME in Sherry's name.
