Obituary

NEWPORT - Sid Ritchie, 66, died November 16, 2017 at a Pittsfield hospital following a long battle with cancer. Sid was born September 26, 1951 in Hartland, a son of Sidney and Beatrice (Morse) Ritchie, Sr.

He graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 1969. Sid served in the Army National Guard for 5 years. He was a mechanic by trade working at Muffler King, Ludden's Auto Repair, and C. M. Norris Auto Repair, all of Newport. Nascar racing was his passion. He also raced personally at Speedway 95 and Unity Raceway. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and in later years, sitting by a campfire on his beloved Lake Sebasticook.

He is survived by a son Justin, his wife Annely, and their son Jase, all of Palmyra; Justin's mother and the love of Sid's life, Brenda Norris of Newport; and 2 other children, Shannon Gilreath of Carmel and Craig Ritchie of Texas; a sister, Evelyn Barker of Orange City, FL; 4 additional grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. Monday, November 27th at the Stetson Meeting House, with the Rev. Brian Woodbury officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
