Dover-Foxcroft. Stephen Arthur Arno took his final flight into the great beyond on March 24, 2025 following a brief stay at Pleasant Meadows Estates and a much longer yet valiant battle with dementia. Born in Dover-Foxcroft on September 9, 1943, the son of Carl and Doris (Hanson) Arno, he attended area schools and graduated from Foxcroft Academy. A dedicated and diligent worker all his life, Stephen tried his hand at many careers including driving a bread truck, working at Dexter Shoe Company, as a Corrections Officer, and as an employee of R.L. Gudroe before eventually stepping out onto his own as the owner of Arno's Electric until his retirement.
When he wasn't hard at work, Steve enjoyed the typical Maine exploits of being in the outdoors fishing with his friends, but his main hobby was really in the skies: He built his own experimental aircraft and flew it all over the area, attending fly-ins in Greenville and Bingham and surprising friends and family by dropping out of the sky into their back yards unannounced! He had also begun assembling a J3 Cub.
Stephen is survived by his wife Pamela (Plummer), son Toby and partner Joy Sharrow of Bowerbank; daughter Jody and husband Kirt Stockley of Dover-Foxcroft; daughter Carla and partner Walter Williams of Parkman; sister Cheryl Andrews and David of Prather California; brother Gerald (Jake) Arno, also of Dover-Foxcroft; and grandchildren Tiffany Porter, Stephen Williams, Isaiah Arno, Tajia Arno, Aspen Maquera, and Darango Arno and special friends Ed Walker and Walter Emmons. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Edward and a grandson Dacano Arno.
