NEWPORT - Sterling Lloyd Turner, 86, died November 3, 2018 at the Maine Veteran's Home in Bangor. He was born January 1, 1932 in Newport, a son of Herbert and C. Marion (Jackson) Turner.
After graduating from Newport High School, Class of 1952, he joined the U. S. Army in 1953 and did a tour of duty in Germany. He worked for Lakeview Dairy in Newport, Footman's Dairy in Brewer, and was a custodian and bus driver for two local school districts.
Sterling is survived by his wife Rowena of Newport; daughter Tanya Robinson of Belmont; 2 sons Herbert and wife Barbara Turner of Westminster, MA, and Christopher and wife Amy Turner of Waterloo, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; his siblings, Errald Turner of Newport, Mahlon and wife Eldora Turner, and Elaine Turner, all of Pittsfield; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 10th, ACat the Calvary Baptist Church, Grove Street, Newport, with the Rev. George Perkins officiating .
