Obituary

Corinna - Thom S. Ulrichsen, born on the 28th of November, 1955, in New Bedford, MA, was a man of many splendid attributes. He was an adventurous soul with a humble heart, a talented craftsman, and a thoughtful listener. His love for the outdoors only surpassed by his passion for fly fishing and exploring the lakes of the state he called home. Thom was an accomplished mechanic, having started his career at Scandia Propellor. His talent and dedication led him to co-found Harbor Hydraulics & Machine with his brother and later work for Brodeur Machine. Upon relocating to Maine, he joined Caterpillar Machine and ultimately retired from Chadwick Baross. Thom was more than a skilled mechanic; he was a mentor to many, always willing to lend a hand and share his knowledge. His work ethic was unmatched, and he wore his heart on his sleeve, always quick to help anyone in need. Thom's gifted hands crafted beautiful bird carvings and furniture, restored boats, and even built a custom canoe and skiff. He was a great storyteller who would always pause his tasks to chat when friends stopped by or called. Family time was a cherished part of Thom's life, and he valued the moments spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his sisters, Ann E Ulrichsen Burge and of Winterhaven, FL and Carol Jennings of Fairhaven, MA; his brother John Petter and his wife, Sharon of Fairhaven, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ingrid and Jens P. Ulrichsen; sister and brother in law, Ingrid and Geoff Purvis and two brother in laws, James Burge and William Jennings. Services celebrating Thom's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairhaven, Ma on October 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Luncheon at Century House, Acushnet, Ma at 12:00 PM. A gathering will be held at The VFW Corinna Post 73, 86 Maple St. Corinna, Maine on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
