Thomas Henry Edwards passed away peacefully at his home in Etna, Maine, on June 15, 2025, with his devoted wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Ann (Vollhardt) Royal Edwards, by his side. He was 90 years old.
Born and raised in Portland, Maine, Thomas was the son of the late Byron LeRoy Edwards and Alma Jane (Libby) Edwards. He led a life marked by service, dedication, and a deep love for family.
Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958, with much of his active duty spent in Germany. He later continued his service in the Maine Air National Guard in Bangor, serving on active duty from 1973 until his retirement in 1984.
Throughout his civilian life, Thomas held a wide range of positions that showcased his strong work ethic and adaptability. He managed a Texaco station in Bangor, worked as a field product specialist for Cooper Tire covering the Northeast, served as a golf professional in Bowie, Maryland, and later worked as an independent marketing research contractor across the state of Maine. He also pursued professional development through 180 hours of business management education—studying Business Law, Sales, and Retail Management—through Cooper Tire.
Thomas was a proud media member of SonLife Broadcasting Network (SBN) and a faithful supporter of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. His faith was a consistent and meaningful part of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; his two sons, Thomas Michael Edwards and wife Lori of Topsham, and Charles R. Edwards and wife Cathy of Bangor. He is also survived by Arlene Fletcher of Topsham, a dear friend and the mother of his children. In addition, Thomas leaves behind three stepchildren, nine step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren, as well as three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren of his own.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of St. Joseph Homecare and Hospice for the exceptional care and support they provided during Thomas' final days.
In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held.
