NEWPORT - Verna Brunson, 86, died March 23, 2021 at a Bangor nursing facility. She was born February 16, 1935 in Mattawamkeag, a daughter of Gilman and Lena Pelkey. She managed a laundromat and enjoyed helping out at soup kitchens and food pantries. Verna was known as a compassionate caring person sharing of her goods and time. She had a bit of a gypsy spirit.

She is survived by her son, Peter of Newport; 3 daughters, Deborah and husband Bill Quealy of North Carolina, Judy and husband Dan Tremblay of New Hampshire and Jody Brunson of South Carolina; and 18 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Brunson; 2 sons, Teddy Bear Brunson, and Leslie Brunson; 2 daughters, Dianna Brunson, and Linda Brunson. Due to COVID restrictions there will be no services at this time. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
