DEXTER - Vern Bodwell, 92, died unexpectedly August 3, 2019 at his residence. He was born July 27, 1927 in Newton, Mass. a son of Vernor and Mildred (Gowen) Bodwell, Sr. He graduated from Deering High School and Gorham State Teacher's College. Vern received his Master's Degree at Penn State University and also achieved his CAS certificate. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His entire teaching career was at Dexter Regional High School. Vern was a 67 year member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter. He spent his time tinkering on Model A and Model T cars and proudly drove his 1931 Model A in Dexter's 4th of July parade.
He is survived by a son Dennis and wife Lisa Bodwell of The Villages, FL; a daughter, Sharon and husband Tom Mulcahy of Englewood, FL; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
Vern was predeceased by his wife Dorothy " Dottie"; his son Larry; siblings, Russell Bodwell, Viola Chapman and William "Bill" Bodwell.
Private interment will be in Portland. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
