NEWPORT - Walter Rezendes, 93, died March 13, 2022. Mister Rezendes was born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 29, 1928, son, and youngest child of Francisco and Guilhermina Rezendes.
Walter made his home in North Providence, where along with his wife, Pauline(Fargnoli), raised their son Frank and daughter Karen. Frank and his wife, Lorraine "Laurie"(Briere) moved to Maine, where they raised their sons: Matthew, wed Britney(Fortier) and are parents to Sophie. All live in the Carolinas. James and his Fiance, Jen Ellis, live in Maine.
Karen lives in Rhode Island and her daughter, Heather lives in Washington.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Pauline and his siblings.
Mr. Rezendes retired from the Providence, Rhode Island Post Office after 22 years. He previously worked for 15 years for St. Regis Paper Company in East Providence, Rhode Island.
He was a Navy Veteran at the end of WWII and a Korean War Veteran, serving with the 532 engineers from 1951 to 1952. His military decorations include: the Korea Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the United Nations Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
After 26 years of service, Walter retired from the Military Reservists as a Sergeant First Class serving with the 118th MP Battalion, part of the Rhode Island National Guard. Walter was a lifetime member of both the W.W. Korea War Veteran's Assoc., Chapter 2 and the D.A.V. of N. Providence, Rhode Island, Chapter 21.
He was a Holy Name Member and Usher at St. Ann's Church in North Providence, Rhode Island.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Swan Point Chapel, Blackstone Blvd, Providence, RI on April 9th at 10:00 a.m.
