NEWPORT - Wilbur Bean, 86, died September 9, 2014 at a Pittsfield hospital after a long illness.

He was born the son of Burt and Nellie (Beal) Bean. Wilbur was a proud 15 year Navy veteran having served during World War II and the Korean War. Wilbur was a member of the VFW, Newport Senior Citizens and the Sebasticook Valley Snowmobile Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Kathleen Bean of Kittery; and Sharron Bates of Enfield, CT; a son, Paul and wife Jackie Ludden of Rockville, CT; 14 grandchildren, Matt and wife Annette Matijczyk, Jason Matijczyk, Stuart and wife Diane, Scott and girlfriend Rose, Dale and wife Lorrie, Angie, Rex, David, Jr. and wife Kathy, Melissa and Breck Ludden, Bambi and husband Bruce, Les Jr., Teresa, Kevin and wife Denise Bates, and Tammy Rhodes; 19 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis, who died August 29, 2014; 3 sons, Ronald, David and Russell Ludden, and 2 granddaughters, Sherry and Dolores Ludden.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Friday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held at 11 A. M. Saturday, September 13th, with the Rev. Scott Black officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Newport.
