DEXTER - Wilbur "Will" M. Haskins, 87, loving father and husband, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 with beloved family by his side at Horizons Living & Rehabilitation Center in Brunswick. He was born on August 25, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts to Benjamin and Lillian (Hobbs) Haskins. He grew up in Jamaica Plain/Boston, spending many summers and holidays into his teens with his Aunt Carrie on Cape Cod Bay. Will graduated from Boston Trade High School (Class of 1950), then enlisted in the United States Air Force (completing Air Training Command instruction as a Radar Mechanic/Airborne Equipment Specialist) at Kessler Air Force Base in Mississippi, prior to being stationed at Charleston Air Force Station. Will was later employed at Dexter Shoe Company for many years as a purchasing agent until his retirement in 1996. He married Christina E. (Dulac) Haskins on October 8, 1954. They raised two daughters together, Lisa E. Haskins of Brunswick and Susan M. (Haskins) Gunsalus of Greenfield, MA. Will was known for his kind, gentle spirit and good sense of humor. His lifelong passion was aviation, with an encyclopedic knowledge of military and casual aircraft. Will's proudest accomplishment was solo piloting a J3 Cub over Gulfport, Mississippi on March 4, 1952. Will also had great care and compassion for his canine companions through the years and could often be seen walking around town with his black lab, Lexie.
